Why short routines work
Big cleans are overwhelming and easy to postpone. A time-boxed 15-minute reset creates momentum, prevents buildup, and keeps smells from taking over. Cellulose helps because it foams fast with less soap and dries quickly between zones.

Set a timer—momentum beats perfection.
The 15-minute plan
0–3 min: Clear & pre-treat
- Start hot water (kettle or tap).
- Trash & load the largest items in the dishwasher first.
- Soak baked-on pans with hot water + a drop of detergent.
3–9 min: Wipe zones
Sink (90 sec) – Wet cellulose sponge, pea of soap, scrub bowl/faucet/handles. Rinse and squeeze dry.
Stove (2 min) – Lift grates; sponge splatters. Add warm water first for grease.
Counters (2.5 min) – S-pattern passes; rinse & squeeze between surfaces.
9–12 min: Dishes triage
Dishwasher first; hand-wash delicate pieces; air-dry.
12–15 min: Floors & shine
Spot-wipe drips, quick sweep, towel the sink rim for a hotel look.
Zone order & time splits
| Zone | Time | Why it’s first |
|---|---|---|
| Sink | 1.5 min | Center of smell & visual clutter; quick win |
| Stove | 2 min | Splatters travel; warm water loosens grease fast |
| Counters | 2.5 min | Reduces crumbs & sticky film before dishes |
| Dishes | 3 min | Loading order preserves foam |
| Floors | 3 min | Visual “reset” & safety |
